FLOW/АҒЫН Concert
The concert was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the creative career of renowned Kazakh choreographer and chief ballet master of the “Gulder” ensemble, Anvara Sadykova.
“The history of the capital’s ballet is a path of immense dedication, perseverance, and devotion to the stage. It all began in 2000 with the opening of the K. Baiseitova National Opera and Ballet Theatre. When the theatre passed the baton to the grand Astana Opera, a new era began. It was a challenging transition with strict selection and new professional standards. Today, this continuity lives on within the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography.”
The evening was filled with nostalgia, yet it was not merely retrospective — because in art, infinity is the limit.
The program featured both iconic works and premieres, including the ethno-ballet “Zamana Zhangyrygy” set to music by Maurice Ravel. The audience warmly welcomed distinguished performers such as Секен Турысбеков, TURAN ensemble, Гульзада Рыскулова, and Динара Кудабаева.
The concept of FLOW/АҒЫН represents an artistic reflection on continuity, the flow of consciousness, and the evolution of national choreography, conveyed through a biographical narrative of the choreographer’s life — from childhood to key milestones, including her connection with Алматы.

Other award categories included “Best Photographer,” won by Maksim Zhusupov; “Best Musical Group,” awarded to UMAY Band; and “Best Dance Ensemble,” won by Art International. In addition, a special category featuring choreographer-directors was introduced for the first time, with Sadykova Anvara Aripovna taking the top honor.
