From the audience’s perspective, this show can rightfully be called a unique form of refined cultural entertainment. A brilliant concept combining storylines from iconic films, an exquisite selection of costumes and imagery, perfectly matched music, and, of course, the signature choreography of the Viva cabaret show. At times, you begin to wonder: are they dancing actors or acting dancers? The level of artistic dedication is impressive — in several episodes, performers even deliver original lines from the films, immersing themselves in their characters without ever breaking the rhythm of the dance. You simply believe it. You are amazed — yet you believe.
Thanks to their creative direction, the troupe has managed to bring legendary Hollywood films to life on stage: Pretty Woman, The Devil Wears Prada, What Women Want, Catch Me If You Can, The Great Gatsby, The Mask, Love Actually, Focus, and even a full-scale Christmas musical. Each program is divided into sections, interconnected by thematic musical interludes. The audience never loses the sense of flow or emotion, remaining captivated by the finale of each segment and witnessing an impressive cinematic composition unfold before their eyes.
Special mention should be given to the direction and lighting design: the performers appear suddenly and spectacularly in the hall — sometimes right behind the audience — only to reemerge on stage in the most theatrical way and then disappear again in a haze of smoke and reflections of spotlights. Watching the performance, one can’t help but wish that this show could reach as many viewers as possible, including international audiences. Incidentally, a well-known director of large-scale productions was sitting at the next table — and judging by his reaction, he clearly shared that sentiment.
“La Vie” is an eclectic production that blends theatrical emotion, Hollywood storytelling, musical experimentation, and the expressive power of dance. Created by the Viva creative company, it stands as one of the finest achievements in the long and fruitful career of its tireless director, Tatyana. As befits a truly high-quality and sensational production, “La Vie” is a seasonal phenomenon — one that becomes brighter, grander, and more original with every new season.
